TEST CELLS FOR AIRCRAFT ENGINES OR INDUSTRIAL GAS TURBINES

Silentec designs, manufactures and installs aero-acoustic components for aircraft engine and industrial turbine test benches.

This includes gas intake and exhaust silencers, directing, flow correctors, increaser tubes, diffusers, doors, windows and absorbent panels on walls and ceilings.

As part of its overall acoustic guarantee, Silentec carries out noise studies and surveys in addition to acoustic recommendations for construction details of the building and its services.

INDUSTRIAL GAS TURBINES, POWER GENERATION FACILITIES

Silentec works with power generation equipment suppliers to control the environment and noise in the workplace. We have full support for noise, as follows:

  • Environmental noise assessment, including infrasound investigation, creation criteria, noise budgets of various components and predicting sound levels.

  • Design, manufacturing & installation of silencers & acoustic enclosures and obstacles.

  • Finally, post-construction noise acceptance testing.

  • Clean and quiet exhaust systems, GE Frame 7 combustion gas turbines
Silentec participated in the engineering, manufacturing and installation of the emissions control system for the exhaust gases of the General Electric frame 7 gas turbines for power plants. On the indicated site, Silentec worked on the gas flow and the envelope. It includes thermo-acoustic lined exhaust ducts, housings and stacks, muffler baffles and flow improvement components. Silentec guaranteed working and environmentally friendly noise levels as well as a low pressure drop. Construction was completed in 2005. Performance delivered. The photo shows the 17' diameter x 110' high neutralized SCR chimney downstream of the gas turbine.
  • Coal-Fired Power Plant in Alaska
Quiet is expected around Healy, Alaska, where a clean coal power plant is being built. Unmitigated noise from the chimney, particularly from fans, risks being heard at great distances. Silentec has designed and manufactured a dissipative silencer for the fireplace. This includes a modal filter and other special features, making it compatible with the addition of speakers for active noise cancellation.
  • 112 MW alternator enclosure
This 112 megawatt electric generator enclosure is soundproof and weatherproof, and can be used indoors and outdoors. It comes with vibration damping panels, neutralized fire suppression ventilation, electrical panels/STC rated wiring, access panels/doors and other accessibility features. It can be shipped fully assembled when size permits - or it can be shipped in modules, for a field assembly.
  • Thermal power plant – Compressor

  • HRSG Heat Recovery
Silentec supplies HRSG equipment. This affects the various gas exhaust equipment, including box, chimney, ducts, structure, valves, SCR, acoustic envelope, acoustic enclosure and silencer, with performance guarantee. Silentec provides field support to assist its customers & mandate erectors and resolve field issues in a timely manner. The photos below are examples of projects involving Silentec.
STACKS & SILENCERS FOR FANS AND DUST COLLECTORS

Silentec designed and manufactured over 18 chimney silencers at Sorel-Tracy, QIT's factory between 2003 and 2008, as part of the environmental noise reduction program. Most were downstream electrostatic dust collectors, like this 60' tall & low pressure drop muffler bullet. Other stack-silencers were supplied in a stack or conduit, as well as a permanently mounted noise monitor. Silentec also carries out periodic maintenance and cleaning operations when necessary.
